Healthcare Entrepreneurs in China: Why now?
9/29/2011
- China's traditions of health and preventive medicine evolved over the long arc of history before food was processed, before red meats, fats and sugars were in abundant supply, and before motorized transport. Now, China's professionals are coping with heart disease, diabetes, obesity - and a shockingly short life expectancy. Two health care entrepreneurs have developed clinics that bring western preventive health care and health education as well as treatment to China. Dr. Dwight Clark, a cardiac surgeon determined to help Chinese avoid an early death, has started China Heart.
Dr. Dwight W. Clark
is the Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and General Manager of China Heart. He is responsible for the overall management of the company. Dr. Clark has over forty years of experience in the practice of clinical and invasive cardiology. During his career, he has performed over 30,000 cardiac catheterizations. Dr. Clark earned fellowship status in the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, the Council on Clinical Cardiology of the American Heart Association, and the American College of Chest Physicians. Since 2005, he has devoted his time and energy to promoting his concepts of preventive cardiology in China.
