About Nat Ahrens

A native of Maine and a dual citizen of the US and Canada, Nat has over a decade of China experience across a wide range of industries.

Now spending time between Shanghai and Washington, DC, he is fluent in Chinese and has spent 10 years in Beijing, Chongqing, and Shanghai. After studying in Beijing, he managed cruise ships on the Yangtze River and was then involved with real estate development in Shanghai, with Quality Housing for China, as Asst. GM of the Shanghai Racquet Club and Apartments. Following that, he was a Senior Product Manager and Director of International Sales for Intrinsic Technology, the Shanghai-based telecom software provider that spun off Linktone (NASDAQ:LTON). While at Intrinsic Nat played an instrumental role in setting up the standards and roll-out of China’s national value-added SMS system. After Intrinsic, in addition to starting Dirigo China, Nat founded Shanghai Pack Ltd., an ongoing company that sources packaging and accessories, primarily for high-end brands such as Chanel, Occitane, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Narcisso Rodriguez, Issey Miyake, Lalique, and others.

Nat received his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Vassar College, where he studied Chinese and Asian Studies. Until recently he served as the State of Maine’s Honorary Ambassador in China.
